Nematic order driven by superconducting correlations

The interplay of nematicity and superconductivity has been observed in a wide variety quantum materials. To explore this interplay, we consider two-dimensional (2D) array nematogens, local droplets with Z3 nematicity, coupled to network Josephson junction wires. Using finite temperature classical Monte Carlo simulations, elucidate the phase diagram model show that development superconducting correlations directional delocalization Cooper pairs can promote nematogen ordering, resulting long-range nematic order. We obtain transport properties our within an effective resistor picture. discuss these ideas context 2D electron gas at (111) KTaO3 interface doped topological insulators NbxBi2Se3 CuxBi2Se3. Our work makes contact Phil Anderson’s numerous contributions broken symmetries driven by saving kinetic energy, including double exchange ferromagnetism interlayer tunneling theory high Tc superconductivity.
